Donate a new or gently used coat to help keep San Antonians warm this winter

San Antonio, TX   The partnership between Five Star Cleaners and Dutch Boy Cleaners created in early 2023 has created a powerful platform in continuing the 40-year legacy of San Antonio’s coat drive, Cold Days, Warm Hearts that begins December 1 and runs through January 31, 2024.

“What started in 1982 as a small service to the San Antonio community has grown into something quite profound. Cold Days, Warm Hearts coat drive has collected and distributed close to 250,000 coats across our community over the last 4 decades,” said Nicholas Abuabad, owner of Five Star Cleaners and Dutch Boy Cleaners. “Continuing this service to the community is extremely important to our team, and I am grateful for our partners, KENS-5 and Santikos Entertainment, for their continued support. Most importantly, I am thankful for our customers who continue year after year to donate gently worn coats. We couldn’t do this without you.”

Beginning December 1 through January 31, 2024, donors can bring in a new or gently used coat anytime to Five Star Cleaners’ 12 locations and Dutch Boy Cleaners’ 8 locations and receive a Santikos popcorn coupon and 30-minute game card, and a $5 gift certificate to any Five Star Cleaners and Dutch Boy Cleaners for their coat donation.

All 10 Santikos Theater locations begin coat collection on December 18 through January 31, 2024, including those in Cibolo and New Braunfels. For each coat donation, the donor receives a Santikos popcorn coupon and 30-minute game card, and a $5 gift certificate to any Five Star Cleaners and Dutch Boy Cleaners for their coat donation

For those wanting to experience a little winter wonder, donors are invited to drop off their coats at Santikos Casablanca Theater on January 12 from 4-7 p.m. and enjoy a snowslide, music, and refreshments.

“The people of San Antonio have giving hearts, wanting to help their neighbors and community. It’s the reason this coat drive has been so successful for so long,” said Abuabad. “We can’t wait to see how San Antonions show up to serve this year. We look forward to seeing everyone at Silverado Theater on January 12,” said Abuabad.

Coats will be distributed to those less fortunate through SAMMinistries (SAMM), Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM) and Pearl Street Church.
