Cold Days, Warm Hearts

San Antonio has already experienced sub-freezing temperatures, so this winter season will be an uncomfortable, cold one! While you won’t catch instant pneumonia if you go outside without a coat, being cold is a miserable way to live. Unfortunately, many in our community live just that way – without a coat.

Five Star Cleaners is passionate about putting warm coats on cold bodies of less fortunate children and adults again this year through our “COLD DAYS, WARM HEARTS” Winter Coat program, running December 3 through January 31, 2015 at 17 convenient drop-off locations across San Antonio.

Five Star Cleaners collects, cleans, and delivers winter coats to three worthwhile local non-profits – SAMMinistries, Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM) and Dress for Success. Since the company launched their coat drive over 30 years ago, more than 112,000 coats have been collected for the under privileged.

Donors are invited to drop off new or gently-used men, women and children’s coats at any of the 17 Five Star Cleaners’ stores. As a gift for donating, each person receives a receipt for tax purposes and a $5 gift certificate good toward any future dry cleaning order, courtesy of Five Star Cleaners.

Sharlene Thum, vice president and co-founder of Five Star Cleaners, says, “Again this year we are counting on our generous residents to think about those in need and donate a new or gently used coat for our ‘COLD DAYS, WARM HEARTS Winter Coat Project.” Just think, the average age of a homeless child in San Antonio is 6 years old. Children are our precious gifts and should not suffer. Nor should their parents or other adults. Please find one or more coats in your closet and support “COLD DAYS, WARM HEARTS.”
